I explore the cultural and communal spirit of the Gaelic Athletics team based in Savannah, Georgia - a team that plays both Gaelic football and hurling. I moved to Savannah from Ireland in 2022 to pursue an MFA at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Being so far from home, I was surprised to find a group playing traditional Irish sports here. This body of work captures the essence of a sport deeply rooted in Irish tradition and its resonance within a contemporary Southern American landscape through the timeless medium of black-and-white photography.
